Did we get enough snow from this storm for the groomers to go out tonight and pan? It's 10:35 am and it is snowing pretty good here in porter corners right now. I did the snow dance and the rain turned to snow. I have about 8 to 9 inches of snow on the bird feeders. I might head up after the snow stops and check the trails out. I don't want to break my sled though and also wouldn't want to see the groomers get damaged either, so I'll prolly take it slow. If I get out I'll report when I get home. Happy sleding.

Reports from our mountain residents say we did get good snow.  Unfortunately the trails are still VERY muddy from the rain we had on tuesday.   It is also still hunting season up there so any work we do with the groomers needs to be done at night.  Finally, the machines are still in the garage for pre-season maintenance.  We hope to be ready to hit the trails this weekend at night or starting monday when the trails open.

We need a long hard cold spell to harden everything up.  Here's a couple pics from yesterday.

Ken and I went up and signed the spruce mt side this afternoon and the trails are ridable but there's still a lot of mud and some exposed rocks.  I'd recommend everyone stays home for another week or so and let things freeze up some more.  The trails are very rutted from hunters' trucks so we'll try and get out with the groomers this week and flatten it all out while it's soft (at least on ormsbee and spruce mt roads).  The woods trails need a lot more snow.

we went up spruce mt road, and down S85 to wells.  That took about 3 hours doing all the signing.  It was dark when we got out.  The section of S85 by the bridge was moderately muddy but not terrible.  I imaging that snake hill and the shaffer shanty woods section would still be pretty muddy but things were starting to freeze up.  Another week of cold and we'll be good to go but monday's highs are going to hurt us.
