I went out last night (wednesday) and rode pretty much the whole system. Snowed like crazy the whole night. picked up about 4" of Lake effect fluff.

The ormsbee side trails are in excellent condition for where we are with no grooming. They are not mid season groomed to perfection, but they are basically flat and pretty wide on the road trails. The woods trails are rough and rocky with some water but mostly frozen up. We ran the tucker around that side and the tracks packed it in good. In the woods trails you are goingto be dodging rocks and low snow where water has eaten away but i had a blast. If you are local and want to ride i would say go but be careful. If you aren't local and can go to speculator or MRP or Tug Hill instead you're probably better off.

The spruce side is decent too. If you take S87 across that's real nice with just a few small water holes compared to S86 which is rough but ridable.

I scouted our re-open C8A trail to lake desolation too. That trail needs quite a bit of work to make it safe for all so hopefully by time the lake is frozen we'll have some additional snow and can get the groomer through.

Steve and I took a ride last night.  We came off wells parking lot and took a shot down to Walsh RD.  That trail to Walsh RD needs more snow cover on the bottom half and to freeze up but is passible.  There is a tree down that Steve feels the groomer will need to pull out as it is frozen under the snow.  The gate at the bottom is still closed as well.  The Wells RD trail was great except for the section from Schafer shanty until you take the left to go towards the fire tower.  Then once you take the right into the woods at spruce mountain it got a little rough again.  The normal rough stuff.   Some open wet spots and rocks here and there.  Once you are up top on the roads of C8 & S81 its great riding.  I don't know what the trail was like coming off Ormsbee, but I would recommend parking there if you want to ride.  We “broke” the trail to Lake desolation 1st try.  Kudos to Steve for not getting us lost.  We need to try and keep noise down as the last house on the right before you cross the private road is right next to the trail.  He was watching Steve and I.  We found that trail in need of some serious work.  It is not a good trail as there are many rocks and frozen water holes with steep banks.  The good news is just that.  The water holes are frozen and were crossable which is a blessing.  By the house there are a few rocks that are going to make that trail a nightmare unless we do some fill work.  I would not recommend bringing a new sled or a girlfriend down that trail yet. We need to get the signs for the trail to the lake straightened out.  We took a rip down Tony Towers trail as well.  These next 14 days of cold I feel will do wonders to freeze everything up.  They are calling for a low of 1 degree tonight.  There was a fresh 2 to 3 ” of snow last night up top.  A few more of those and we should be in good shape.
