2008-2009 Trail Reports Archive

Monday 2/16/09

The spruce side was groomed early Sunday and it made it real nice too.  If you didn’t ride this weekend because you thought the conditions wouldn’t be good you really missed out.

If we get snow this week like they say then we’ll be back in great shape.

Saturday Night 2/14

The trails are in very good condition for the most part. The spruce Mt side is a little more bumpy and has some stuff poking through but it’s good. The Ormsbee side is like riding on the Throughway.  George did a phenomenal job with it before it got too hard.   I didn’t overheat at all as i was able to chew up enough granular to make it a great ride.

I didn’t venture down Fox hill road to Tinney’s even though the food was calling my belly. The road was just not ridable. I’m sure the Greenfield side is ok but the 1 mile of Edinburg is not.

Alpine meadows trail is starting to show a lot of rocks and dirt and there’s one ice bridge that collapedand left a 3-4 foot deep cevace but it’s only about 1 foot across so it’s not much to worry about. The big mud hole on S87 opened back up again but sleds should be able to ride around it as i did.

Other than that the trails are in very good to excellent condition. Studs are really needed at this time and ice scratchers would really help as i stayed cool but didn’t have much lube. Just a few inches of snow and we’ll be back in business. Lets keep our fingers crossed for Thursday.

Thursday 2/12

We had both groomers out all night last night to lay down the soft snow so it will freeze up smooth. A lot of water holes open, many bare spots as well rocks and stumps now exposed. Trails will be ridable this weekend, However, I would suggest caution as they will be in much different shape since the last time you may have ridden them.

Monday 2/9

I just thought I would post up some conditions as of yesterday afternoon up in Mulleyville. There is still a ton of snow up there but there are hazards popping up all over. We got sun on Saturday and never went below freezing on Saturday night with some drizzle. Sunday was beautiful but 40’s and sun is not conducive for snow. All the trails are covered for the most part but rocks and stumps are popping up….some are big too (Mulleyville style) Some water was flowing in the usual spots so some water holes will open up by the end of the week. Some corners and the sun baked spots are showing dirt and mud. We will groom this week, move some snow around and get the trails in shape for next weekend. Hopefully we can get through the week and return to winter again.
