Mulleyville Snowmobile Club

As I type this we are piling up our first real snow of the season.  Our trails have been closed for a while but the base was mostly intact.  The new snow this week will make the trails very nice.  Keep an eye on our website in the trail conditions and forum pages for the latest on conditions and events.  Please register for our Discussion Forum if you haven’t already to provide trail conditions to your fellow club members and feedback to the club.  It’s a great place to share your ideas on how to improve the club.  Also please visit our Business Sponsors Page and support those who support our club.

Trail Conditions
With the new snow we anticipate the trail conditions will be what we have come to expect over the past few years. We will be planning on getting the groomers out Wednesday night. Anyone that has the day off Wednesday should see some incredible powder conditions before then. The more traffic during the day the better we’ll be able to groom and pack it in. Breaking trails with the drag and deep snow can be challenging.

If the forecast pans out we’ll have a lot of snow for his weekend and hopefully we’ll be able to keep up and get it packed by Friday night. If not bear with us and enjoy the snow. Saturday could see some serious bumps if the temperatures stay in the 30’s but we’ll do what we can to keep them down. Expect to see groomers out during the day every day from Wednesday to Sunday so be aware and with deep snow you must get out of the groomers way.

A few things to look out for at open streams as it’s been pretty warm for the last 10 days, downed trees as the storm is bringing heavy wet snow and high winds, and active logging on the north leg of S83 and the woods section of S81.

The trail to Lake Desolation should be good finally and Tinney’s really needs your business after such a slow February.

Finally, there are numerous reports of open water and large pressure ridges on the Great Sacandaga Lake at this time. Add in the weight of up to 2 feet of heavy wet snow the lake is going to have many hazards so please be careful. Reports from Sacandaga Club say that the Turner Road Trailhead has a huge amount of open water and is not safe. The Richter’s trail head should be ok. The are reports of open water by Sinclair point as well so make sure to give it a very wide turn.

Spring Cash Bash is Back
We will be holding our Spring Cash Bash again this year. John Jones is organizing it once again and it will be held at Sam’s Glad Rag Saloon in Corinth on April 10th. There will be a hot buffet, beer on tap, and a live band (TBD). Of course there will be the huge cash drawings (1st: $3000, 2nd: $1000, 3rd: $500, 4th: $250, 5th: $150, 6th: $100). Parking areas
Please use some common sense in the parking areas while it is snowing. The snowplows still take priority and some lots may not be plowed. They do not appreciate people parking on the side of the road while it’s actively snowing as it makes plowing more difficult. Also remember that the Groomers need to be able to come out into the lots to turn around (especially Wells road and County Route 10 lots).

Mulleyville 100 Club
The winners of the 100 Club Drawing for February’s Meeting were: First: Joe Buttons; Second: Tim Pettys; and Third: Tim Morgan. Thanks to everyone who made this a great fundraiser for the club and our future Grooming Barn project. There are still two more Drawings for March and April.

Club Meeting Schedule
Mark your calendars and attend our meetings if you can. We meet at the Town of Greenfield Community Center, located behind the Greenfield Center Town Hall at the intersection of Rt 9N & Wilton Greenfield Rd. If your headed North on Rt 9N, turn right at the light & take the next right into the parking lot. The Community Center is the white single story building. Enter through the back double doors. Meetings start at 7:30pm the 2nd Tues of each month: Sep 8, Oct 13, Nov 10, Dec 8, Jan 12, Feb 9, Mar 9, and Apr 13.
