Left the house and took a quick ride today. It was quicker than I planned since the conditions were not good.
It rained all night and it was pretty steady rain too. Then when the rain stopped today it was sunny and 43 degrees this afternoon. When I left the house (in a light weight fleece) the trail was pretty good going up Spruce mtn, banged a rock here and there but nothing major. It was bad from there. Once I got to any sort of incline the snow was so soft and slushy it just blew out from underneath me and I would spin.
Forget about any secondary trails, not passible…you will thrash your machine. The snow is so wet that when it freezes, it will be a killer solid base. We need more snow and to get back to the business of winter. Hopefully everyone (especially ATV’s) will stay off the trails until it freezes up and we get more snow.
